Trevor Harvey eluded of first victory in thrilling inaugural Motegi event

Just over 10 hours ago, Motegi GP circuit used by Moto GP was used for the first time on my racing career, and served as the last race in Season 9 for many, including the 771 ranked Australian Trevor Harvey, who almost made history as the first ever winner at the circuit, but wasn't all strawberries and cream once the 18 racers got into practice.
Mistakes proved costly on the 4.8km, 3 mile strip, as some drivers were up to 20 seconds off the best practice time, putting a question on the approximate pole position time. Even those who completed 6x3 lap stints were miles off the eventually pole time of a 1:49.024 by 1103 ranked driver Brandon Knight, some 6 tenths quicker than Tim Richmond, .8 from Rocco Rapido, 1.2 seconds from Nick Wheeler, and 1.3 from Drummond Bennett and Trevor Harvey himself.
The race had a question mark regarding weather, with showers interveening constantly as the race ran on. Fortunately for the eventually podium drivers, Knight, Harvey, and the Finnish 2349 ranked Teuvo Kiningas, they all made the right decisions when the heavens opened, pitting for wets moments after the rest of the field pitted for more slicks. This enabled Knight and Harvey to battle for the win, with Kuningas a further half minute back.
The weather proved the undoing of Harvery as he constantly lost time whilst chasing Knight despite Harvey seemingly quicker in the wet conditions, which provednhis undoing as he crossed the finish line 1.6 seconds adrift off a maiden win.
This isn't the first time Harvey has clinched a podium at the end of the Season. Trevor stole 3rd place at the Final Season 8 Australian Series Race at Adeaide when leader Jake King pulled over with transmission problems. Trevor said after the race he can go one better when the chance comes to him, as he has headed to Europe to compete in the F3 Dutch Series for at least this season.
