Driver Dmitry Starostachev II closed out the race in a spectacular first place, his fourth time doing so in his career, from a stunning P2 start in qualification. Starostachev's pace in this session was nothing short of phenomenal, and his result has done well to keep Toyota in the title fight. 

Driver Michael Novikov had a turbulent race in Shanghai, qualifying in P9 after making two mistakes in Q1 and losing a lot of race pace when he received damage off another mistake on lap 7. Overall, he lost five positions and crossed the finish line outside the points in P14. Though the result is unfortunate after such a great drive in Australia, we expect Novikov will recover his form moving towards Suzuka.  

We at Toyota Gazoo Racing are very happy with another big points finish, and we hope to accomplish our first double points finish of the season in Japan!
