Comunicati Stampa - History made in Chinese F4 Championship

History made in Chinese F4 Championship

The 4th of June is famous in Chinese history as a day when NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. That’s until today, with the first ever Chinese front-row lockout in qualifying in the inaugural Chinese F4 championship at the Zhuzhou circuit.
Being the first season, records are there for the taking. The pole sitter Huang, for example, holds the distinction of being the first ever driver to retire from a CF4C race. In the opening event, the nut between the steering wheel and the seat failed, causing Huangs car to crash out. A crash in the second race put Huang on the back foot, but he’s arguably the quickest driver at the moment with most wins and poles, lying second in the standings.
First is British driver Liam Borgini, who has been incredibly consistent, finishing in the top ten in every race despite only having one win.
Borgini has said he has settled in well in the Chinese series, when asked.
“I like Chinese food, which over here the Chinese call ‘food,’” Borgini explained. When asked about his favourite delicacy, Borgini opined: “The green tea flavoured McFlurry, probably. If I want something more exotic I’ll go for a KFC, as there’s a lot here compared to back home in England.”
Asked about his chances of maintaining his championship lead after only qualifying 8th, Borgini shrugged. “We’re all young drivers and a crash is never far away, so keeping out of trouble and picking up points is what sets a driver apart. That’s why I’m leading, I think,” he said. “At the moment a lot of drivers are in with a shot. It’s close, but whether it’s going to stay close as the season progresses is unknown.”
At the moment however, Huang is steamrolling the opposition in qualifying, like a tank steamrolling a protest. Good luck to all the drivers for the first race.
