Formula 1: Car Rankings

Since Bahrain, four teams have introduced upgrades to their cars.

During this period, B15 delivered the largest upgrade package and with it they have moved ahead of Ford. Pegaso also brought some updates, which have almost completely closed the gap to Lotus. The two teams now look very similar on paper in terms of performance, but their chassis philosophies are quite different, making it interesting to see how they compare over the next few races.

Another team that hasn’t been standing still is the championship leader, Red Bull. With their latest upgrades, they have once again extended their advantage over their closest rival. However, that rival is now Porsche, the fourth and final team to introduce new parts. With these upgrades, Porsche has moved ahead of Toyota, who have not updated their car since Bahrain.

The top three teams are still separated by less than one point, but Red Bull’s pace advantage gives them an edge, especially in qualifying. Therefore, it's not surprising that they have taken six poles in the first seven races, with Bahrain being the only exception. There, Lotus’ speed-focused chassis came into play.
