Elisabet Alemany retires
The time has come. After 26 seasons and about to turn 44, Elisabet Alemany has decided to retire from the sport that has given her so much joy.
The Catalan driver started with a third place and a runner-up finish in the German Formula 4. From there she went on to win the NASC Truck Series in her first attempt, and then had three seasons without much luck in Formula E. An anonymous year in Formula 2 gave way to 4 seasons in the DTWS, with a fifth place as her best classification. Then Eli moved definitively to the United States in the NASC Gold Cup, and finally exploded. 6 seasons in the NASC brought her two titles and a passport to Formula 1 with Pegaso, where a complicated car did not allow her to score points.
Two years in the Indy Series with a fourth place as her best result, led to semi-retirement as Alemany has raced 6 seasons in CARS, where she has always been in the top four but has never achieved the championship. As for the custom series, she won 9, and 18 private series, including 8 CEF but unfortunately no IBAM.
Alemany's track record includes the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500, and some notable statistics in the different championships where she won races:
-7 wins, 4 poles, 6 fastest laps and 26 podiums in two seasons of German F4
-9 wins, 4 poles, 1 fastest lap and 16 podiums in one year of NASC Truck
-43 wins, 50 poles, 32 fastest laps and 98 podiums in 6 seasons of NASC Gold Cup
-2 wins, 5 fastest laps and 4 podiums in 2 seasons of Indy Series
-26 wins, 21 poles, 48 fastest laps and 72 podiums in 6 years of CARS.
Special mention should be made of the private CEF and IBAM championships:
-141 wins, 54 poles, 193 fastest laps and 398 podiums in 52 editions of the CEF
-17 wins, 5 poles, 17 fastest laps and 58 podiums in 27 editions of the IBAM
