Vanderpuije takes pole at Hockenheim 1
The first qualifying of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Series season just took place at Hockenheim after a rain drenched practice session made finding a good setup exceptionally difficult for all the teams and drivers. Max Vanderpuije however had a great couple of runs taking pole by a comfortable three tenths over second placed Villanova.
Vanderpuije's commments after the session:
"I'm actually quite surprised and totally stoked about that pole position, I was actually aiming for a spot in the top five as we gambled a bit with the setup but it seems to have worked out nicely.
These cars are great to drive and the race formats are exciting, so this is going to be a fantastic season. I've got some serious competition in Maurer, Lund, and Da Costa Jr. this time round so it's going to be a very, very difficult one but we'll be pushing the whole way through. Those guys just had a lot of trouble this session and they'll bounce back quickly for the next round so capitalizing here is very important."
